“Likrat Shabbat Lechu V’Nelcha”

Not only are many communities buying Meoros HaShabbos for members and their families, but dozens of close-knit congregations in Israel and elsewhere have undertaken to study the sefer between davening or afterward, with rabbis or congregants delivering brief shiurim about the topic studied each Shabbos.

Additionally, Shabbos afternoon programs feature youngsters leading their peers in studying Meoros HaShabbos, and in some communities women are studying the book as well.

Meoros HaShabbos students include the Friday kollel of congregation Rinat Yisrael, the Zohar class in Shevet Achim, and congregations Tiferet Ariel and (thanks to R. Ilan Gifman’s purchase of books) Lechu Neranena (Carlebach) – all in Givat Shmuel suburb alone!

Furthermore, R. Shmuel Nevo has provided copies of Meoros HaShabbos for one of the largest communities in Rishon LeTzion, and Dr. Yechiel Sherman has distributed books throughout Elkana.

Residents of Ra’anana have purchased Meoros HaShabbos for their friends and communities. For example, R. Koby Shlissel, who has done so much for the study of daf yomi, has bought an impressive quantity for the Mishkan Ori-Re’ut community, as has R. Seffi Mei-Zahav for his shul.

In Petach Tikva, R. Chaim Naftali Einhorn has purchased Meoros HaShabbos for congregation Rinat Asher. Not to be outdone, Professor Hamilton Sauta of Beilinson Hospital in Petach Tikva has bought quite a few copies for doctors and daf yomi students.

In Haifa, R. Shaul Zilberstein has purchased Meoros HaShabbos for hundreds of local residents and daf yomi students.

In Hod HaSharon, R. Amos Daboush has joined this commendable initiative, distributing Meoros HaShabbos throughout his community – one of the largest in the city – with the goal of promoting its study and an appreciation of its importance for both individuals and communities.

R. Shimon Simboni, part of the Meoros network in Tirat Yehuda, has obtained books for members of the moshav to study at the Shabbos table.

An anonymous member of Adat Yeshurun, headed by Harav. Ehrentroi, shlita, of B’nei Brak, has donated copies to his community in order to strengthen the study of the laws of Shabbos within local families.

Even the diamond industry has jumped on the bandwagon. Avi Paz, president of the diamond exchange and friend of Meoros HaDaf HaYomi, has bought hundreds of copies for his fellow diamantaires and attendees of the many shiurim held there daily.

In addition, a deluxe edition of Meoros HaShabbos is gaining popularity as a memento of a sheva brachos, wedding, bar mitzva, etc.

Undoubtedly, the study of the laws of Shabbos at the Shabbos table adds a unique and enjoyable Torah dimension to the Shabbos meal and the family, “for it is the source of blessing.”
